Important Changes to Covid-19 Funding from 1st July 2024

Please be advised that all funding for COVID-19 Care in the Community Primary Care Services will end on the 30th of June as advised by Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ. Primary Care providers (general practice, hauora providers and urgent care) will no longer be able to claim for funded COVID-19 related anti viral consultations. Consultations for COVID-19 will be treated like other respiratory illnesses and attract co-payments as for other similar conditions. Beyond 30th June 2024, Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ will continue to transition its health response to COVID-19 so it is managed in a similar way to other communicable diseases.

Cold, Flu or Covid-19

One of the big questions we ask ourselves now when we fall ill with cold or flu like symptoms is have I got a cold, flu or Covid-19?

cold is a mild illness lasting 1-2 weeks although some symptoms can last longer i.e. a cough

The flu (influenza) is a moderate to severe illness with a sudden onset of symptoms lasting 7-19 days. Symptoms include fever (temp of 38 degrees Celsius) or higher, shivering, muscle aches, headache and tiredness. Bed rest is needed.

Covid-19 symptoms are similar to cold or flu. If you are experiencing fever (temp of 38 degrees celsius) or higher, shortness of breath, cough, a sore throat, sneezing and runny nose, temporary loss of sense of smell, upset stomach, possible with diarrhoea or vomiting please test for Covid or call reception for an appointment in one of our up to date clinical rooms in the carpark.
